OluKai Brings Aloha to Zappos Brand Day

Las Vegas may be far from the ocean, but on October 21, it felt a little closer. OluKai partnered with Zappos to share the aloha spirit with the employees of the Las Vegas-based retailer. Zappos' Customer Loyalty Team organized the event in collaboration with OluKai in part to build brand awareness on campus focused on sharing the brand culture through product stories, a local giveback fundraiser and a little le'a le'a (fun). The keys to the OluKai design philosophy (fit, style and quality materials) were on display from the fall 2015 and spring 2016 assortments. Many staff also took the event as an opportunity to interact with the OluKai team to learn more about the products, philosophy and culture -- while taking part in some fun and games and sharing in a tasty beverage compliments of the on-site bartender. In addition to the product presentation, Zappos and OluKai partnered to design a giveback fundraiser in benefit of the Las Vegas Academy to support youth arts education. The giveback featured three unique artistic pieces from Wooden Wave, Kamea Hadar and Sean Woolsey. Staff purchased raffle tickets and three lucky winners for the pieces were randomly chosen upon completion of the event. The raffle items included the shoes that were painted by creative team Wooden Wave of Hawaii, a canvas piece by Hawaii-based muralist, Kamea Hadar, and a custom-built skateboard by Sean Woolsey of Costa Mesa, CA. Over $1,600 was raised to help the department's education trip to Spain in 2016. It was a record setting day for attendance on campus. OluKai had the opportunity to meet more than 300 staff on campus and show that aloha can be found anywhere.
